BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

·         Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.   Board Certified or board eligible.   Physicians, including residents appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38USC 7402(d) and 7407 (d).   Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.   The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.   You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.  

·         You must successfully complete a pre-employment physical to include drug screening, suitability screening (background check) and credentialing prior to appointment.  After appointment, there is a requirement for random testing for illegal drug use.

·         Clinical privileges must be recommended by the Chief, Staff/Professional Standards Board and granted by the Director, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.  The physician must provide complete credentialing and privileging information in a timely, expeditious manner to the VA Network Credentialing Office.  Employment is contingent on the ability of the physician to be credentialed by the VA Network Credentialing Office.
