About the Position: The Alaska District is a construction, engineering design and environmental sciences agency for civil works, military, ISS, and environmental projects for the entire State of Alaska (an area of 586,412 square miles), the largest area controlled by any Corps District in the United States. Five distinct geographic regions are dealt with, each with unique combinations of geological, climatological, and political features - the Southeast Panhandle, the South central Gulf Coast, the Interior, the Arctic, the Western Bering Sea Coast, the Southwestern Alaska Peninsula, and Aleutians. Alaska's four climate zones (maritime, transition, continental, and arctic) pose formidable construction, environmental and engineering challenges. This position serves a team leader and senior budget analyst with responsibility for leading a team of budget and program analysts and budget technicians engaged in formulating, executing and monitoring the District's operating budget and all budget issues, including manpower management and funds control.
This position is being filled as a Temporary Promotion or Temporary Reassignment Not To Exceed 4 years and may also become permanent without further competition. About the Location: We are headquartered on Elmendorf Air Force Base near Anchorage, a cosmopolitan city in a wilderness setting. With 260,283 people, Anchorage has 42 percent of the state's population. High-rise buildings shape the city's skyline. Like any large city, Anchorage has performing arts, museums, shopping, restaurants, and hotels. These amenities exist alongside mountain peaks and miles of biking, hiking, and skiing trails. The advertised salary does not include our current rate of 5.57% tax free Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).
The advertised salary does include the current 24.69% locality payment authorized for Alaska.
