Provides interpretive services for visitors to parks, visitor centers, or other sites of interest to the public. Performs work such as giving formal talks, interpreting natural and historic features, answering questions, guiding tours, and providing miscellaneous services to visitors.

Provides guide services for visitors to parks, visitor centers, and other visitor, historic, or natural sites of interest to the public. Performs duties related to visitor safety and comfort, and protection of objects and features.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.

MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifying experience for the GS-7 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. The experience must have involved oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups; or developing and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirements for the GS-7 level may be met by completion of one (1) year of graduate level education (18 semester/27 quarter hours) with courses such as history, natural sciences, earth sciences, archeology, anthropology, recreation management, natural resource management, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, and sociology.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.

**PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY, PART-TIME POSITION. EMPLOYEES WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK 16-32 HOURS PER WEEK.**

THE WAGE RANGE IS A MINIMUM OF $20.21 PER HOUR AND A MAXIMUM OF $26.28 PER HOUR.

LOCATION: Office of the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the CEO for Visitor Services, Visitor Services Division.

This position requires duty on Saturdays and holidays due to the operational requirements of the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC).

The incumbents will be required to walk, talk, and stand for extended periods of time. Walking up multiple flights of stairs is required both in the U.S. Capitol and the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC).

This vacancy announcement will be used to fill temporary positions in the Capitol Visitor Center to work during the peak tourist season in the early Spring and Summer. These temporary positions are not expected to last the full term. As such, the temporary appointments will be terminated at the end of the peak season. This position may require the incumbent to work evenings or weekends, when necessary.
