This position is located in the Customer Support Section of the Infrastructure and Operations Branch within the Office of Data and Technology (ODT) of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Washington, DC. ODT provides Data Infrastructure and Technology support for all CFTC mission activities. ODT also provides IT systems and services and data management functions that directly support CFTC derivatives market oversight mission activities: Registration and Compliance; Entity Filing Review; Product Review and Assessment; Data Acquisition, Analytics and Surveillance; Examination; External Coordination; Enforcement; Legal and Economic Analysis; and Management and Administrative support. ODT supports CFTC field offices in Chicago, New York, and Kansas City, in addition to the Washington, DC headquarters location.

Serves as Project Manager in the Customer Services Section providing technical expertise in work that involves the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training in response to customer requirements. Responsible for the implementation and management of desktop capabilities (e.g., Windows OS desktop upgrade). Serves as the technical lead for and maintains all physical and virtual desktop and laptop images for both user and dedicated function computers. Provides lead technical support, hardware evaluation, and maintenance for specialized computer devices (tablets, scanners, fingerprint readers, portable data storage devices, printers, copiers, and multi-function devices). Responsible for the evaluation, configuration, and approval of non-standard desktop software (forensic software, economic analysis tools, etc.). Takes the technical lead on evaluation and configuration of software upgrades and assists with security patch maintenance, testing and deployment. Provides technical leadership on projects requiring group efforts and apply project management principles, methods, and practices including developing plans and schedules, defining milestones and deliverables, monitoring activities, and evaluating and reporting on accomplishments, to effectively manage assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications - You must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below in OPM's Qualifications Standard Operating Manual:

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized Experience -

 

For CT-11, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CT/GS-9 in the federal service. Specialized experience must demonstrate knowledge and skill in applying customer support principles; installed systems bases; IT security principles; methods and procedures for documenting resolutions; problem resolution databases, troubleshooting and data analysis methods; and communication methods and techniques. Experience should include receiving, responding to, and ensuring complete resolution of any help center call; document action taken; and experience installing, configuring, and testing software on customer workstations.

 

For CT-12, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CT/GS-11 in the federal service. Specialized experience must demonstrate knowledge and skill in applying customer support concepts and methods; and installed applications, operating systems, network systems, protocals, and equipment. Experience includes preparing standard log-in scripts and establishing network access protocols to enable customers to gain local or remote access.

 

For CT-13, You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CT/GS-12 in the federal service. Specialized experience must include: knowledge or, and skill in applying customer support concepts and methods; procedures for troubleshooting and recovering systems and files; and customer organizations' IT infrastructures. Experience includes reviewing, validating, and standardizing problem resolutions for inclusion in the problem resolution database.

Relocation.  Relocation expenses will not be paid.

 

Probation Period. Candidates selected under competitive examining procedures will subject to a one-year probationary period.
