Tour of Duty: (1) Full Time Days Monday thru Friday.  Potential for on call in the future.  Potential to rotate shift for patient care needs.

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse is a professional registered nurse who is responsible for the evidence-based care of a group of patients and who utilizes the Nursing Process to: 1) demonstrate leadership in providing a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff and others; 2) use & direct others to use equipment safely and appropriately; 3) provide care that incorporates the age, gender, cultural and learning needs of patients requiring complex planning and evaluation of care; 4) apply and direct others to apply infection control measures appropriately in delivering care; 5) collaborate with others to identify, analyze and resolve problems affecting care; 6) identify potential problems involving resources and/or safety and takes action to ensure patient safety and a therapeutic environment; 7) adhere to ethical principles and nursing standards in delivering care; 8) demonstrate leadership in unit-level quality improvement activities ; 9) apply knowledge and skill core competencies of the assigned unit to patient care; and 10) use effective communication skills with individuals & groups to achieve desired patient outcomes; 11) demonstrate all mandatory organizational and clinical competencies of the position.12) Bart/BLS and ACLS or ART certified. The PACU RN is competent to recover patients from Anesthesia/Procedural Sedation. The PACU RN analyzes best practices regarding moderate sedation, monitoring of patients and in documenting the practice of moderate sedation.
