Serves as a District Information Technology (IT) Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving three or more IT Specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).  The USAO IT environment includes personal computers, routers, hubs/switches, bridges, transmission media, a wide area network, operating system, case management systems and litigation support operations.  IT responsibilities are considered complex in terms of communication limitations, the need to modify standard system to resolve hardware and software problems, and the need to adapt precedents or make significant departures from standardized approaches to meet user requirements. 

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing administrative support to the United States Attorney's Office.  Typical work assignments will include:

 

  • Promoting awareness of security issues among management and employees.
  • Monitoring functionality, security and integrity of Internet services.
  • Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported IT related incidents
  • Maintaining network architecture and infrastructure.
  • Configuring and maintaining servers, routers and hubs/switches.

 

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Travel Required:  Work of the position requires frequent travel between the geographically dispersed division offices to provide onsite support.

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that includes performing the following types of duties: serving as an Information Technology specialist responsible for the configuration, installation, or maintenance of network systems; installing Windows based servers and maintaining existing servers; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; and installing and maintaining compatible database systems.

Possess a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree AND this education is either in one of the following fields OR provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
Have a combination of specialized experience as described above and graduate education as described above which when combined equal 100% of the requirements.
