GS-7: To qualify at the GS-7, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience that is equivalent at least to the GS-5 grade level. Specialized experience for the GS-7 is described as work or academic experience in conducting research or investigations. Education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience. Education which may be substituted to meet the requirements for the GS-7 is one full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement. Graduate Education is education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
GS-9: To qualify for the GS-9, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience that is equivalent at least to the GS-7 grade level. Specialized experience for the GS-9 is described as work or academic experience in conducting research or investigations and experience in writing to interpret or recommend public policies or programs. Education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience. Education which may be substituted to meet the requirements at the GS-9 is a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Your resume must clearly document how you meet the specialized experience for the grade in which you are applying for in order to meet the minimum qualification requirements for this vacancy. If you are substituting education to meet the specialized experience, you MUST submit your transcript with your application prior to the closing of the announcement. An unofficial transcript is acceptable. Credit for Part-time work experience will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. For example, 20 hours of work per week for a 12-month period will be credited as 6 months of work experience. Documents submitted after the closing date will NOT be accepted.
