Provides primary care for a panel of veterans at the Dalhart Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Dalhart, Texas.  Will be responsible for a panel of up to 500 patients and a workload on average per day of 6 patients at the Dalhart Clinic.  Will also be responsible to complete clinical reminders, medication reconciliation and be competent with the computerized patient record system (CPRS).

 

The focus of a Primary Care physician at the Amarillo VA Health Care System is the provision of general medical care and long term care for veteran patients in a manner which is reflective of good clinical judgment, medical knowledge, clinical skills (medical interviewing, physical examiniation, and procedural skills), humanistic qualities and professionalism.

 

In addition to the Dalhart Community Based Clinic, the Amarillo VA Health Care System consists of the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center located in Amarillo, Texas; and three VA-staffed Outpatient Clinics located in Lubbock, Texas; Childress, Texas; and Clovis, New Mexico. 

 

Pay will be commensurate with training, experience, and market.  (Yearly salary prorated to number of part-time hours worked.)   Recruitment/Relocation incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified applicant. 

 

Tour of Duty:  M-F 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  

a. Citizenship.  Citizenship of the United States. 

b. Education.  Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. 

c.  Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.  The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

d.  First-Year Residency (Internship).  Completed a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed. 

Prefer:  Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. 

 

Applicant's education and length of practice (experience) will be considered by a Compensation Panel in determining the salary of the applicant selected.  Relocation/Recruitment incentive MAY be authorized upon review and approval by management.
