The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is recruiting for a full-time Medical Support Assistant in for our Imaging Service Line. The ICVAHCS is one of the facilities of the Midwest Health Care Network (VISN 23).

The Imaging Service Line is divided into two sections, Nuclear Medicine and Radiology. The incumbent participates actively in the operation and management of clinics, performing administrative and clerical duties.
The following is a brief description of duties:
This position maintains contact with inpatient units, physicians, patients, and visitors. This position requires almost continuous public image and exercises good public relations both in person and on the telephone. Complex coordination of patient direction both within the medical center and throughout the community is essential. The incumbent schedules all procedures, coordinates scheduling of sophisticated imaging procedures not available at this facility, processes all requisitions sent by inpatient wards, is responsible for automated scheduling and registration of each patient referred for imaging examinations, maintains supplies, greets patients, answers phone, runs reports and processes mail.

Skills of a qualified typist (40 WPM) with word processing experience is required.
GS-5: One year of specialized experience which is at least equivalent to the GS-4 level.
Specialized experience: Experience which equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to plan, organize, and control different tasks, and coordinate varied activities due to workload and programs related to the treatment of our customers, in order to successfully perform the duties of the position.
