 IOWA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

THIS POSITION IS RESTRICTED TO CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE IOWA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD.

LOCATION:  DCSPER,  Camp Dodge JMTC, Johnston, IA.  

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of this excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Serves as a reviewer or processor of actions in, but not limited to: officer, enlisted, boards, retirement, education, automation, personnel plans, mob-readiness, health services, and Soldier Family services. Provides administrative support for the programs assigned to the MILPO. Researches and obtains all necessary relevant information regarding cases and issues. Provides explanations and interpretations of rules, regulations, procedures and requirements pertaining to actions taken or recommended. Provides support to maintain a variety of automated systems and interfaces used to manage service members both locally and statewide. Assists in on-site training as requested or required by supported units. Participates in unit Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) and in organizational inspection program. Provides assistance in counseling service members on available benefits; accuracy of the emergency data and contact information and the accuracy of the DEERS/RAPIDS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System/Real-Time Automated personnel Identification System) information; and allows the service member to perform a general review of their record. SECURITY CLEARANCE : Employment is subjectto attaining and maintaining a secret security clearance as required by thisposition.  If the selectee does not possess the applicable securityclearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date. Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result intermination of employment.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Clerical or administrative experience, education/or training which has provided the candidate with the ability to search for and compile information/data, process documents and provide information about regulations, procedures and programs.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:   Must indicate 6 months of the following type of experience:

1.   Experience working with the rules, regulations, procedures and program requirements of 

      one or more areas of a personnel nature to include military personnel.

2.   Experience working in an administrative or management environment.

3.   Experience working on computers.

4.   Experience with person-to-person contacts to exercise tact and express ideas both  orally and in writing.

5.   Experience in processing various personnel forms, records and reports.

 

 


Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:  For the first six months of specialized experience, study successfully completed in a school above the high school level may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of study for six months of specialized experience, provided the study included at least 6 semester hours in subjects closely related to the personnel field, i.e. English composition, Human Resources, public administration, etc  If education is being substituted for specialized experience, a college transcript must accompany the application or resume.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA'S), LISTED BELOW, WILL BE USED IN THE SELECTION PROCESS. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ARE IMPORTANT TO THE ENTIRE SELECTION PROCESS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED SPECIFICALLY AND COMPLETELY IN THE APPLICATION.

1.       Basic knowledge of military personnel administration and related policies, regulations, and procedures.

2.       Ability to review and process military personnel actions.

3.       Ability to deal cooperatively with others to obtain needed information.

4.       Skill in compiling information and preparing reports.

5.       Ability to plan and organize work.

6.       Knowledge of military organizational structures, protocol, and similar matters.  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

A pre-employment physical or medical screening may be required for placement to this position.

Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT) program as a condition of employment.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:  Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a security clearance as required by the position.

Failure to complete NGB prescribed courses at the PEC for new FTS personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.

Note:  Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowance may not be authorized for this position.  Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Government.

ENLISTMENT CASH BONUSES:  Acceptance of a technician position may affect any bonus and/or educational assistance that may be applicable.
