This announcement for a Program Specialist position may be used to fill one or more positions in any Division in the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO). The Directorate for Biological Sciences at NSF, provides support for research to advance understanding of the underlying principles and mechanisms governing life. Research studies range across progressively more complex systems and scales encompassing the structure and dynamics of biological molecules, cells, tissues, organs, organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems up to and including the global biosphere. The mission of the Directorate for Biological Sciences is to enable discoveries for understanding life. BIO-supported research advances the frontiers of biological knowledge, increases understanding of complex systems, and provides a theoretical basis for original research in many other scientific disciplines.
