Specialized Experience: Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on apolice force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Specialized experience is defined as; interpreting and applying laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures; exercising discretion in protecting the health, safety, privacy, or best interest of the public staff, or others who may be at risk; implementing checklists and contingency actions in response to incidents, emergencies, and hostile or potentially hostile actions.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities)in the following areas:
· Knowledge of LawEnforcement Operations and Procedures.
· Skill in use ofcomputer and associated software programs.
· Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held aGeneral Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Basis for Rating: Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of three quality categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified and Qualified. Veteran preference eligibles are listed ahead of non-preference eligibles within each quality category.
