Tour of duty: Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

The primary functions of the Clinical Pharmacy Technician include obtaining, performing and monitoring laboratory values, medical chart/action profile poly-pharmacy reviews, drug utilization evaluation monitoring, pharmacoeconomic reviews, telephone logistical support, supplemental patient education communication, performing finger stick for POC INR, scheduling, ,and prescription order entry (with pharmacist  or nurse practitioner verification). On-site certification of clinical competency shall be completed prior to performing assigned clinical functions. This technician, functions under the matrix supervision of an assigned –Anticoagulation Specialist.


The position is being announced at the GS-4/5 and GS-6 levels, with the the full performance at the GS-5. Grade determination will be made upon review of application and KSA's by the Professional Standards Board.  Selection at a specific grade level is not implied or guaranteed.

Basic Qualification Requirements:

English Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English is required in accordance with 38 USC 4105(c). You will need to demonstrate proficiency in writing, reading and speaking English.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Requirements: Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required for performance at the GS-6 level.


Requirement for the GS-6: 1 year of experience at the next lower gradde level (GS-5) which demonstrates the ability to solve problems and make recommendations, operate and care for automated equipment, follow written instructions for compounding with aseptic technique for hazardous materials, perform compounding with aseptic techniques for routine sterile products, and the knowledge of policies and procedures for inventory management in specialized areas and the ability to input prescriptions and medication orders.

          6. Knowledge of the computerized prescription process demonstrated by the ability to input prescriptions and medication orders
