Reclamation is a contemporary water management agency. Reclamation is best known for Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River and Folsom Dam on the American River. You will ultimately:

*Ensure that Reclamation's programs in the management of the Bend Field Office are effectively developed and executed.

*Provide direction and leadership to staff in accomplishing the work of the Field Office.

*Make operating decisions which give fair and complete consideration to irrigation and other multipurpose activities.

*Represents Reclamation within the geographic area and interacts with private and public interests.

*Build and foster relationships with a wide variety of interests associated with work of the office.

All Job applicants must meet the following qualification requirements.

For the GS-13 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience is defined as diverse experience in the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems or irrigation project management; operation and maintenance of dams and canals; safety of dams activities; natural resource experience to include National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) or Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance; strong supervisory skills and decision making skills are desireable for this position.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Category rating and selection procedures will be used to evaluate applications from this announcement. If you meet the basic qualification requirements, your on-line responses to the vacancy assessment questionnaire will be used to determine the quality and extent of your experience, education, training, etc., for placement in one of the following categories: 1) Best Qualified, 2) Well Qualified, and 3) Qualified. Qualified candidates will be assigned a numerical score on a scale of 70-100 and veterans with preference will be placed at the top of their respective category. The assessment questionnaire will take you approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Applicants will be further evaluated on the following “Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)” through your resume and responses to the online questions.

1.  Ability to lead, motivate and supervise a diverse staff of multiple disciplines and functions.

2.  Ability to successfully manage water resource programs including operations and maintenance of canals, storage dams and associated environmental management.

3.  Skill in communication both orally and in writing and ability to maintain working relationships with staff, government agencies, user groups, and professional organizations.

4.  Skill in effectively and efficiently planning and executing complex projects and activities and associated budgets.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:
