Applicants who are currently enrolled in and are within eleven (11) months of completing their APA accredited predoctoral internship will be considered.  If selected, a tentative commitment for future employment as a graduate psychologist will be made.  This tentative commitment will be made contingent upon successful completion of his/her program and successfully meeting the requirements of the qualification standard and other requirements for employment.  Employment will not be offered if the selectee fails to successfully complete employment requirements or will not be available to report for duty within 15 days of completing requirements.

The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is recruiting for up to (4) full-time staff psychologists.  All positions will emphasize the use of Evidenced Based Psychotherapies (EBP) for a full range of anxiety, mood, adjustment, substance use, and other psychiatric disorders. The incumbent psychologists will work with a diverse Veteran population and will work as part of multidisciplinary teams in a collegial and collaborative environment. Details regarding the vacancies are listed below:

Trauma Recovery Program (TRP) PTSD/SUD Specialist (One Vacancy)  The position offers the opportunity to provide empirically based groups and individual interventions related to PTSD and Substance Use and will involve being a member of TRPs interdisciplinary team.  The position also involves serving as a liaison between the Trauma Recovery Program and the Addictive Disorders Treatment Program in order to facilitate continuity of care.  For candidates who have leadership skills and interests, opportunities for a role in program leadership may also be incorporated in this position.

Telemedicine Clinic (One Vacancy) - The incumbent will work as a member of the telemedicine interdisciplinary team and provide expert, evidenced based, clinical services to Veterans with problems related to anxiety, adjustment, mood substance use, and other psychiatric conditions.  Clinical duties include but are not limited to screening high risk patients, expert evaluations for diagnosis and treatment planning, and providing a full range of psychological interventions, including motivational enhancement and evidenced based psychotherapies (EBPs).  Opportunities to participate in training of psychology trainees and/or pursue research endeavors are also available.  

Intake and Consultation Team (One Vacancy) - The psychologist will be responsible for non-medical diagnostic assessment, differential diagnosis, psychological testing, and selected administrative functions.  He/She serves as a consultant to areas of the Medical Center where expertise in psychological assessment, conceptualization and diagnosis is required.  The primary duties of this position involve consultation to other professional health care providers on a broad range of mental health and behavioral issues.

Mental Health Outpatient Clinic (One Vacancy) - The Psychologist will involve providing expert clinical services to Veterans served by the VA Medical Center's interdisciplinary Mental Health Outpatient Clinic (MH-OPC).  Many of the Veterans served by this clinic have serious mental illness and require long-term care and follow-up, but are likely to experience benefits from time-limited, symptom focused and evidence based interventions.

Psychology Service is well respected within our medical center and psychologists are provided with numerous opportunities for continuing education, program development, research, and professional growth.  Our VAMC is affiliated with the University of Mississippi Medical Center and offers APA-accredited psychology training programs at the pre and postdoctoral levels.
