- Prepares monthly operating plans, utilization report, and inflow forecasts and distributes operating plans.
- Prepares PowerPoint presentation for water user meeting and inflow forecast news releases.
- Monitors output of water-related computer programs.
- Prepares Annual Operation Plan Report.
- Reviews historical data for comparison with current trends.
- Prepares responses to hydrological data requests.
- Assists with installation and repair of hydrologic and meteorological equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

GS-7: 1 full year of directly related, progressively higher level graduate education
-or- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal service -OR- a combination of education and experience.

GS-8: 1 and 1/2 years of directly related, progressively higher level graduate education -or- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service -OR- a combination of education and experience.

GS-9: 2 full years of directly related, progressively higher level graduate education or a Master's degree -or- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-8 level in the Federal service -OR- a combination of education and experience. Graduate education must be in an appropriate field of science, engineering, construction, or industrial technology.

GS-10: 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service.

DEFINITIONS OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows. 

GS-7: The collection and recording of hydrologic data such as streamflow, precipitation, temperature, evaporation, and other daily reservoir data by utilization of a variety of computer based systems and programs.

GS-8: Collecting and processing hydrologic data; preparing hydrologic charts and reports containing hydrologic data; and/or performing related duties supporting professional work in hydrology.

GS-9: Collecting, selecting, computing, and processing hydrologic data; using software applications to compute and generate hydrologic data, charts and reports for inflow forecast and operating plans; and/or installing/maintaining measurement and recording instruments and devices.

GS-10: Use of software applications to compute and generate hydrological data and to prepare permanent water use records and reports, inflow forecasts and operating plans. Experience in collecting, compiling, analyzing, and processing water discharge records. Experience in the operation and maintenance of various water measurement devices such as Parshall flumes, orifice checks, submerged orifices, weirs, controlled sections, water stage recorders, totalizers, meters and remote indicators (ex: Hydromet equipment).

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Category rating and selection procedures will be used for evaluating this position. If you meet the basic qualification requirements, your on-line responses to the vacancy assessment questionnaire will be used to determine the quality and extent of your experience, education, training, etc., for placement in one of the following categories: 1) Highly Qualified, 2) Qualified. Qualified candidates will be assigned a numerical score on a scale of 70-100 and Veterans with preference will be placed at the top of their respective category. The assessment questionnaire will take you approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Applicants will be further evaluated on the following "Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)" through your resume and responses to the online questions.

1. Knowledge of hydrologic and meteorological principles, practices and equipment.
2. Knowledge of hydrologic computer programs to describe and record hydrologic occurrences and use outputs to monitor operations.
3. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
4. Ability to produce hydrologic reports using available information and existing computer programs.
