This position is located with the Bureau of Reclamation, Central California Area Office, Lake Berryessa Recreation Resources Division. Lake Berryessa is located 25 miles north of Napa, a great wine producing region in California. The San Francisco Bay Area is 70 miles to the south. The area has warm summer temperatures and mild winters. The lake is a very popular recreation area for the cities of Napa, Fairfield, and Vacaville.

The incumbent will serve as Office Automation Clerk performing a variety of office automation and clerical assignments. Uses automation equipment and software (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.) to produce a wide variety of narrative and tabular material, e.g., correspondence, reports, graphics, calendars, charts, statistical tables and various forms and documents. Prepares material from rough or revised drafts. Ensures correct grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation of final copy. Establishes and maintains office files and records. Files various documents (e.g., reports, and general correspondence). Searches and locates records and documents for a variety of information. Furnishes information and refers callers to others or takes messages.

This position requires the applicant to type at least 40 words per minute.

In addition, applicants must possess 1 year of general experience, 2 years of education above high school, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Definition of General Experience: To meet general experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills and abilities as follows:

-Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; or

-One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical is considered equivalent to one year of full-time study.


There is an education substitution for experience. Applicants substituting experience for education must submit a copy of their college transcript (unofficial copy is acceptable) or equivalent document. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred.

 

Foreign Education:  To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, applicants must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Human Resources will review resumes and transcripts to ensure applicants meet the basic qualification requirements. We will evaluate each applicant who meets the basic qualifications on the information provided in the assessment questionnaire. The assessment questionnaire will take approximately 60 minutes. Applicants determined best-qualified will be referred to the selecting official.
