JOB SUMMARY:

The Fort McCoy FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.

Application packets will only be accepted from Military Spouses, Involuntary Separated Military, and Current NAF Employees.  Documentation as to preference stated must be submitted with the application packet in order to be given consideration.   Serves as a Recreation Program Specialist within the Community Recreation Division; involved with planning, organizing, and conducting facility recreation programs for the Fort McCoy community.  This position is Regular Full Time position and schedule will include weekends, holidays, morning and evening shifts.

Organizes, plans, and evaluate community programs that reflect patron interests. Works in executing community-wide recreation events, programs and services to meet the diversified  needs of the community, including a variety multi disciplinary events, i.e.: social activities; tournaments and other major programs such as ethnic, patriotic and holiday observances which involve a variety of activities. Work may include leadership responsibilities and weekend or evening manager duties.  Develops and plans publicity using installation media.  Recommends items if supplies, materials, prizes, decorations, refreshments, and equipment needed for program functions.  Assists with training new personnel. Assures that proper security measures are taken to safeguard monies, property, equipment and facility. Assists with other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed.

Experience, Education OR a combination of experience and education.

Possess two years of experience which enables the candidate to independently perform the duties of the position as described above.  Experience is defined as:  providing customer service and involvement in creating and carrying out special programs/events such as:  fitness runs, holiday events, tournaments or wellness events.

OR

Possess bachelor’s degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation, or special population recreation.  (TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE PROVIDED TO SUPPORT THIS CLAIM)

OR

Possess two years of education with major  in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation, or special population recreation and one year of experience which enables the candidate to independently perform the duties of the position as described above.  Experience is defined as:  providing customer service and involvement in creating and carrying out special programs/events such as:  fitness runs, holiday events, tournaments or wellness events.  (TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE PROVIDED TO SUPPORT THIS CLAIM)

 


Conditions of employment:  

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.

2. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

6. Social Security Card must be presented at time of appointment.

7.  Must have a valid state drivers license.

8.  Must possess CPR and First Aid certification within three months of hire.

9.  Must possess Life guarding and WSI certification within six months of hire.

10.  Must attend MWR Academy Program.

11.  Some travel will be required.

12.  Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment check in accordance with Army regulations, to include physical and background checks.

13.  The position will require working both indoors and outdoors, to include winter cold and summer heat. 

14.  DA Form 3433-1 supplemental employment application and OF 306 Declaration for Federal Employment are conditions of employment and must be completed prior to appointment.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies:  recreation operations, administration and communication.  Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.  Do not overstate or understate your level of experience and capability.  You should be aware that your ratings are subject to evaluation and verification.  Questionnaire answers must be substantiated in your resume as to the job duties and requirements of the position.  If a determination is made that you have rated yourself higher thank is supported in your resume it could be grounds for not being referred or selected for the position.
