JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

 

Fort Meade is located almost midway between the cities of Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC and is home to approximately 10,000 military personnel along with about 25,000 civilian employees. Approximately 6,000 family members reside on post. Fort Meade is virtually a city in itself, with a modern exchange mall, a commissary, state of the art fitness centers, historical library, RV Park and much more.  Army employees at Fort

You will serve as the Chief, Transportation Support Branch under the administrative supervision of the Garrison Director of Human Resources. You will serve as the liaison between US Army Garrison and the National Security Agency (NSA) and will be responsible for the management of the NSA motor pool operations. In addition you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the administration, operation, utilization, maintenance, inspection, and inventory control of the non-tactical vehicle (NTV) fleet, including oversight and coordination of the operational efforts of General Services Administration (GSA) and Government Owned Government Operated (GOGO) vehicles.

GS-11: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent at least to the GS-9 grade level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: Knowledge of transportation operations, skill in personnel management, and coordinating a motor pool in accordance with laws and regulations.

 

OR

 

- Possess a completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to this position. (Must submit transcripts to qualify)

 

OR

 

- Possess at least three years of progressively higher graduate level education leading towards a degree such as in traffic management, transportation, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or another field related to this position. (Must submit transcripts to qualify)

 

OR

 

- Completed a combination of the described experience and education where the total percentage of the completed portions equals at least 100%. (Must submit transcripts to qualify)


 

This position does not have a positive education requirement.

This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 7412 (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Safety-Sensitive under the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration Rules on Drug and Alcohol Testing) and must pass testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
