US Army Veterinary Services operates as a subsidiary of Public Health Command. Their mission is to provide military veterinary services in support of United States Army Medical Command and Department of Defense missions in their areas of responsibility. The civilian function of the Veterinary Services is a supplemental mission which exists to assist soldiers and their families in the field of animal health and care.
This is a Flex 00 position at the Ft. Sam Houston Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF). This position requires interaction on a daily basis with clinic military personnel. There are both reception and clinic duties, to include (but not limited to) answering phones, setting up appointments, receiving payment, reminder calling, clearing accounts, Daily Activity Reports, ordering supplies, clinic laundry, restocking the clinic, animal restraint, SQ, IM, IV animal injections, monitoring anesthesia, setting a catheter, taking vitals, setting up, running, and initial interpretation of laboratory tests such as fecals, cytology, blood chemistry and cbc.
Employees in Flexible positions can be scheduled between 00 to 39 hours per week depending on management may occasionally require evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
