Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skill of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

These positions are located at the SKIES facility, Ft. Bliss, Texas.

 

This is a flexible position, pay equals hours worked times the basic rate of pay.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Serves as an Instructor in the CYS Instructional Program. Provides individual and/or group lessons to participants. Offers less structured activities for parents/children. Coordinates work schedules with Instructional Program Specialist. Develops individual and group lesson plans. Tracks participant's accomplishments, long and short term goals, effort, and evaluations as appropriate for age and type of instruction. Implements changes and adjustments to instructional program and plans to meet unusual situations associated with the needs of individual children and youth. Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Models appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children/youth. Acts to stimulate and encourage participant interest and to establish an environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Acts to stimulate and encourage participant interest and to establish an environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements

Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of program participants. Observes and evaluates participants developmental level and records progress. Continually reviews instructional sessions and plans for appropriateness. Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed. Notifies supervisor on health, fire, and safety compliance concerns. Participates in conferences with parents, program staff, and school representatives. Plans and conducts special events for parents designed to promote the instructional program while encouraging parents to become involved. Uses designated evaluation materials to ensure assigned area is in compliance with standards and procedures as outlined in applicable regulations and program management guides. Provides care, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD, Army and local policies, guidance, and standards.

Completes designated training requirements and records completed training on own Individual Development Plan (IDP).

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

1. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
3. Be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
5. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
6. Demonstrated skill/evidence of competence in instructional area.

7. Possess Water Safety Instructor Certification.

Preferred are those candidates who possess a Professional Certificates/Credentials; or Associates Degree or higher with 15 semester hours of college credit in the area of instruction.


 

Conditions of employment:

 

 

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.

 

2. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

 

3.
