This position is located in the Telecommunications and Audiovisual Section of the Infrastructure and Operations Branch within the Office of Data and Technology of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission.

You will be responsible for assisting management with day-to-day operations of conferencing and presentation support as well as telecommunications related trouble tickets.  You will provide system administration support to the Commission phone and voicemail servers.  Administer the audiovisual (AV) services equipment and provide telecommunications services support to CFTC staff through the ODT Customer Support Center.  You will assist the Associate Director for telecommunications in the performance of duties associated with the evaluation of the performance of a variety of installed audiovisual and telecommunications equipment, systems, facilities.  Assist in monitoring, testing, evaluating, problem analysis, maintenance, repair, removal, and installation of audiovisual and telecommunications systems and facilities; collect data for special evaluation and analytical studies, maintenance, repair, removal, and installation of audiovisual and telecommunications systems and facilities.  Reviews plans and requests for changes to applications, operating systems, network configuration, and audiovisual and information technology equipment in order to assess impact on the current network configuration and performance.  Assists in the planning and performs video post-production tasks; assists in the directing and produces video based media to meet customer requirements; assists in coordination of products and services for customers, such as still photography (conventional or digital), computer-generated graphics, presentation services (conference rooms, classrooms, or on location) multimedia equipment and mobile productions, video (production, post-production and duplication), audio (production and duplication), video teleconferencing.

For CT-11, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the CT/GS-09 which demonstrates experience in weighing the impact of variables such as cost, variations in electronic and other equipment characteristics, equipment availability, and the kinds of communications required such as voice, text, and/or data; OR

 

Three full years of related progressively higher level graduate education leading to an equivalent Ph.D. or doctoral degree; or LL.M., if related; OR

 

Combination of related education and specialized experience.

 

For CT-12, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the CT/GS-11 level that demonstrated accomplishment of complex and difficult IT assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of a wide range of communications concepts, principles, and practices or in-depth knowledge in a particular functional area of telecommunications (transmission media, data transfer, ground to ground radio, switching systems, or other very specific aspects of telecommunications) to accomplish work processes through the use of telecommunications devices, methods, services, and facilities.  Work may include coordinating the objectives and plans of one of more specialized communications programs, developing and/or implementing procedures and practices to cover multiple communications objectives, serving as technical or management specialist on committees and work groups to identify and resolve issues; or comparable experience.

 

For CT-13, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the CT/GS-12 level that demonstrated accomplishment of complex and difficult IT assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of a wide range of communications concepts, principles, and practices or in-depth knowledge in a particular functional area of telecommunications (transmission media, data transfer, ground to ground radio, switching systems, or other very specific aspects of telecommunications) to accomplish work processes through the use of telecommunications devices, methods, services, and facilities.  The work involved reviewing, analyzing, and resolving difficult and complex telecommunications problems.  Work may involve planning and implementing telecommunications installation procedures involving a variety of available communications equipment, services, security methods and procedures, and operating techniques; or comparable experience.

OTHER INFORMATION:

Relocation. Relocation expenses will not be paid.

 

Probation Period. Candidates selected under competitive examining procedures will subject to a one-year probationary period.
