The VA Western New York Healthcare System is recruiting for a Chief of Psychiatry. This is a general hospital with medical, surgical and psychiatric beds.
The Chief of Psychiatry will have the responsibility of leading a group of mental health professionals in providing clinical care for veterans at Buffalo and Batavia campus and seven Community Bases Outpatient Clinics in the WNY area. The responsibility also includes 0.5 clinical work, participation in various operations of Behavioral Health careline, teaching Medical Students and Psychiatry residents from SUNY at Buffalo and assist in research collaborations.
Candidate must have demonstrated leadership in a complex academic medical center, strong clinical skills, and administrative capabilities; research experience is desirable. Candidate must have teaching experience and be strongly motivated to participate in resident teaching and faculty development.

a) Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. (Appointments may be made without regard to citizenship requirements if determined that it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens for the necessary services)
b) Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
c) Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Candidate must be Board Certified in Psychiatry.
