In this position you will be responsible for developing new methods, approaches, and procedures, providing advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues, interpreting IT policies, standards and guidelines.

Specifically, you will: 

 

  • Conduct routine studies and tests for the purpose of evaluating the system, hardware and software to ensure that the most efficient procedures, systems, methods, and machines have been selected for specific segment of operation.

 

  • Prepare reports on system development lifecycle phases and general descriptions of the system requirements.

 

  • Develop application system design and systems requirements specifications for the implementation of appropriate agency managed care systems and their interaction with related systems.

 

  • Perform system analysis, planning, problem definition, and formulation.

You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

 

Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

 

For the GS-9 Grade Level:  Specialized experience is defined as one (1) year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 7 level in the Federal service which may include: You must demonstrate competence in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Experience includes identifying and resolving a variety of IT issues and problems as it relates to refining functional requirements and translating into technical specifications; preparing and updating processes, policies and procedures and providing information and assistance to customers; and recommending changes in methods and practices where appropriate: IT systems application design and development.

 

- OR - Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute education for specialized experience at the GS 9 level by possessing a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development of adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
