JOB SUMMARY:

As the Executive Assistant, the incumbent independently performs highly diversified duties associated with the administration and management of day-to-day support activities for the Plant Manager and Deputy Plant Manager.  The purpose of this position is to perform key administrative duties assisting, planning and coordinating the line and staff activities of the Office of the Plant Manager.

    This position is located in the office of Plant Manager, Manufacturing Department.

    As an Executive Assistant, you will:
    • Provide administrative, clerical and analytical support (i.e., budget formulation/expenditures, award distribution, requisition requests, man-hours worked, overtime expenses, etc.) for the Plant Manager and Deputy in support of day- to-day operations and staff activities, to include report generating, data collection and data analysis as described above.
    • Exercise tact and diplomacy in giving information only to authorized sources and keep the Plant Manager informed on information given or received, as well as any adverse reactions, criticisms, or suggestions.
    • Respond to various inquiries, requests and administrative problems directed to the Plant Manager, relying on a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of US Mint programs and the policies and views of the Plant Manager. 
    • Utilize substantive knowledge of programs guidelines, operating procedures, organizational reporting levels, and priorities of the United States Mint, Denver to handle requests for information or data.
    • Arrange and attend senior staff meetings and monitor such to identify and summarize decisions and commitments; and follow up on action items with participants or support personnel.
    • Review and study clerical and administrative work processes to identify, analyze, recommend, and implement solutions to problems in work processes, organizational structure, correspondence, reports tracking, and workload distribution.
    • Review all correspondence for the Plant Manager's signature for grammar, construction, format, attachments, continuity of text, tone and style, and compliance with the Plant Manager's viewpoint.

    Specialized Experience:
    For the GS-09 You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: assisting, planning and coordinating the line and staff activities of a top level executive and assisting in directing the work of administrative support and clerical employees in a manufacturing environment;

    OR

    Education:
    You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
    For the GS-09 level: A Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or an LL.B. or J.D., if related;

    OR

    -- You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Category rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. If qualified, you will be assigned to one of three categories, Superior, Good, and Acceptable, depending on your experience and education related to this position. Veterans' preference is applied after applicants are assessed. Preference-eligibles will be listed at the top of their assigned category and considered before non-preference-eligibles in that category. Qualified preference-eligibles with a compensable service-connected disability of 10% or more will be listed at the top of the highest category.
