POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent serves as a Personnel Security Specialist responsible for performing a full range of moderately difficult personnel security duties and assignments in support of the security program to determine the loyalty, reliability and suitability of military, civilian and contract personnel requiring access to sensitive information, resources, material or work sites. As such, incumbent interprets and provides technical advice and guidance on sensitive compartmented information (SCI) personnel security standards. Responsible for maintaining the integrity and protection of highly sensitive information and programs under the security cognizance of the Agency.




ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION

- Conducts analysis of investigative reports from the Defense Security Services, serviced investigative agencies and other Executive Branch investigative agencies and other documentation in order to render adjudicative determinations pertaining to clearance/access eligibility in accordance with Executive Orders for the Agency and other DoD Agencies. Conducts or monitors security indoctrination and re-indoctrinations debriefs departing personnel. - Reviews requests for clearance and special access, interviews nominees, ensures compliance with personnel security regulations and determines scope of investigation required for individuals appointed or assigned to critical or sensitive positions requiring access to classified, restricted, or cryptographic information. - Conducts and/or provides guidance for investigations, interviews, or interrogations on unusual or highly sensitive matters where the utmost in discretion and tact are required. Directs additional investigative coverage. Recommends disposition of controversial and sensitive security cases. Provides in-depth investigative expertise in the personnel security process to include security interviews, security violations, suitability investigations, investigations of other matters directed by higher authority, and preparation of associated investigative and security policies and regulations. - Prepares executive and staff correspondence for supervisory review on personnel security issues and documents reflective of procedures in compliance with security guidelines. - Provides input and maintains information in National-level investigations and adjudicative databases. Coordinates with other investigative agencies on case transfers. - Represents the office on internal and inter-agency working groups or panels to address personnel security policy, procedures, and program-related issues and assist in briefing to Agency supervisors, managers, and DoD community, as required. - Performs other duties as assigned.
