JOB SUMMARY:

Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) is the nation’s fully accredited federal school of medicine and graduate school of nursing. Its education, research and consultation programs are unique, related directly to military medicine, tropical diseases, disaster medicine, military medical readiness and adaptation to extreme environments. We prepare outstanding scientists and health care practitioners for careers in service to the nation.

This position is located in the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Office of the Vice President for External Affairs, University Media Services (UMS), Computer Graphics Branch.  You will serve as a Visual Information Specialist producing computer generated visual arts and other graphic art work.

 

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.

As a Visual Information Specialist, duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Planning, scheduling and overseeing all production of graphic art support for media projects such as training materials, process illustrations, publication pieces, and promotional posters.
  • Plan and coordinate customer graphics.
  • Plan the visual impact (i.e. artwork, illustrations, charts, diagrams, photographs, and creativity) of each project, when required.
  • Develop photo illustrations, charts, graphs and other technical art work.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector working with computer generated scientific/medical visual arts products and other graphic art work. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.  Examples of qualifying experience include:

  • Selecting visual materials such as photographs, illustrations, models, and specimens to be used in the communication of information.
  • Assisting in the designing, placement and appearance of visual materials.
  • Utilizing specialized desk top publishing computer software programs to produce graphic art, designs and layouts.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
