PHYSICAL EFFORT: Daily routine requires physical effort of standing and walking, lifting bags of trash (weighing approximately 40 pounds and occasionaly weighing in excess of 50 pounds), and pushing large trash cart to dock area and other designated areas for unloading of trash. Moderately heavy physical effort is used in lifting and tossing trash and other items into designated receptacles and also in sweeping and/or mopping designated areas. May be required to use stairwells to remove non-contaminated and contaminated waste in contingency operations. Employee stands, walks, bens, lifts, climbs, stretches, pushes and pulls.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Most of the work is performed inside temperature controlled building. May be exposed to bad weather and unmonitored temperature interior spaces for short period of time while unloading trash carts. May be exposed to upleasant irritants and noise when unloading trash at the dumpster, if ear plugs are not worn. Personal protective equipment including coveralls, safety toed footwear, protective gloves and hearing and eye protection (when appropriate) required. Exposed to potential health hazards.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Applicants will be ranked based on three quality groups, as follows:
- Best qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that substantially exceed the minimum qualifications of the position, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position.
- Well qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that meet the minimum qualifications of the position and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job.
- Qualified - applicants possessing the knowledge, skills and abilities that meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group. Qualified veterans will be afforded preference by being placed at the top of the appropriate quality group. Qualified veterans with a service-connected disability of 10% or more will be placed at the top of the best qualified group. The best qualified group is the first to be referred to the hiring facility for further consideration and possible interview. Preference eligible applicants in the remaining groups may be referred based on the number of applicants available.
