  • Serve as a senior specialist with responsibility for coordinating a variety of complex and unusual information security issues.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data.
  • Develop and implement programs to ensure that systems, network, and data users are aware of, understand, and adhere to systems security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify risks and protection needs.
  • Assess security events to determine impact, implementing corrective action as needed.
  • Participate in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies.

Basic Requirements:

Specialized Experience:

 

For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service, is required.

 

Specialized experience is defined as experience ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and data across a complex wide are network (WAN) through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools.  Experience using network tools which include; network management tools, ports and protocol databases, network packet capture tools and firewall/router systems logs. 

 

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position.  Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position.  Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume.  No separate statements addressing KSA's or competencies are required.

Background or Security Investigation:
