For entry level positions in the Business, and Administrative occupations. Opportunities include multiple types of positions within these occupational areas at various locations thoughtout the Marshall Space Flight Center.

Students will alternate between periods of work/duty status and periods of leave without pay to resume academic phase of the pathways intern program.

The purpose of the Pathways intern Employment Program, is to provide the intern with exposure to public service, enhance educational experience, and provide financial support to encourage and support educational goals. The program is formally structured to give interns the opportunity to work in positions related to the academic/career goals. Participant completes assigned duties, tasks, readings, and developmental activities specified in the program. A written agreement is required between the employing Center and intern. Within 120 calendar days after completing educational requirements, the employing agency may non-competitively promote and convert an intern to a career/career-conditional or term employment. The conversion is not guaranteed and is based on the need of the agency.

Positions may be in the following specialties:

Business Management, Business Analytics, MBA, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Procurement, Contracting and Education.

NASA Pathways candidates will meet the qualification requirements consistent with NASA and the OPM qualification standards applicable to the position being filled.

To qualify you must:
a. Be a United States Citizen
b. Be at least 16 years old
c. Have at least a 2.9 GPA
d. Must be pursuing a graduate degree in one of the academic majors or related fields listed in the announcement.
e. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on at least a half-time basis.

Many NASA positions have specific educational requirements, so we encourage you to provide a complete description of your educational achievements.

To qualify for GS-7 the applicant must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree and be accepted into a master's program in one of the academic majors or related fields lists in this announcement.

To qualify for GS-9 the applicant must have completion of one acadamic year of master's level education or acceptatance into a Doctoral program.

U.S. citizenship is required.


Candidates will be assessed either based solely on basic eligibility requirements or may include a qualitative rating of candidates. NASA Pathways candidates will meet the qualification requirements consistent with the OPM qualification standards applicable to the position being filled. Veterans' preference applies to all selections made under the Pathways authority in accordance with Part 302 of 5 CFR. Candidates who meet the minimum qualification requirements need not be further evaluated; however, if no further evaluation is done, qualified veterans have absolute preference. If candidates are further evaluated using NASA's category rating process, qualified veterans have absolute preference within the appropriate category.
