NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIREDThis is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.  Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

 

This position is located within ANG Aviation Wing (F-16), Aircraft Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Sq/Flt, Avionics Flight Line Element or a similar F-16 aircraft maintenance activity where the incumbent of this position works in an Avionics Flight Line organization. The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system complexes which consist of several complete integrated electronic avionics systems, where the multi-system complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

 

REMARKS:  Highly preferred,  maintenance experience on any F-22 Aircraft Avionics System

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Excepted Service Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (NTE E6/TSgt)

 

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I -
All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (NTE E6/TSgt) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program.

 

GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Army and Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (NTE E6/TSgt), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

 

GROUP III – Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia National Guard.

 

MILITARY CRITERIA:  Applicant must be qualified and eligible for award of an AFSC as follows: AFSC: 2A3X5

 

MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:  Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia Air National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and AFSC prior to placement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, aligns, and calibrates complete electronic avionics multi-systems such as the electronics package in a highly automated F-16 aircraft where the Enhanced Expanded Fire Control Computer (EEFCC) or General Avionics Computer, electronic multiplex communications bus, Inertial Navigation System, multi-function displays, Fire Control Radar System, head-up display, data transfer equipment, Global Positioning System, Litening II precision attack targeting pod, LANTIRN targeting pod, Situation Awareness Data-Link, Internal Data Modem, Integrated Countermeasures Management System, Digital Terrain System, Flight Control System, pitot-static system and related instrumentation, flight director instrumentation, Central Air Data Computer, engine, hydraulic and fuel quantity indicating systems, voice message warning, VHF, UHF radio, intercom, secure voice communications, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), Tactical Air Navigation System (TACAN), Radar Altitude and Instrument Landing System, Crash Survivable Flight Data Recording System, Radar Threat Warning System, Chaff/Flare Dispensing System and electronic countermeasures pod and other complex functions which are performed by numerous systems and are extensively interconnected with data feedback loops and accomplish a number of major functions. Troubleshoots malfunctions and analyzes system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, Technical Orders, schematic and wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, data downloads from various systems, waveform analysis from Time Domain Reflectometer and Radio Frequency Transmission Line Test Sets, Multiplex Bus Fault Isolation Test Set, common and system-specific test equipment and built in system tests. Removes faulty system components and line replaceable units (LRUs). Recommends hardware and software changes. Provides training to lower graded personnel concerned with the repair of integrated avionics systems. Prepares for and participates in Aerospace Expeditionary Force (AEF) taskings, deployments and various inspections and exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as; launch and recovery, aircraft servicing, fire fighting, aircraft crash and rescue duty, security guard duties, snow removal, heavy equipment operator, facilities and equipment maintenance, or serve as a member of a natural disasters or civil emergencies team. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: E xperience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies. Thorough knowledge of principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory. Ability to interpret and trace schematics, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic integrated systems equipment.  Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic integrated systems equipment.  Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment.  Experience in using a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) .   Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
