JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army’s Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance and is the world’s largest helicopters overhaul and repair facility. CCAD serves as the depot training base for active duty Army, National Guard, Reserve and foreign military personnel. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting.

Requires a thorough knowledge of helicopter rotor heads , rotor controls, landing gear and related components.  Performs final assembly of the entire end item, assembles subassemblies and components, or performs designated assembly by station on an assembly line. Incorporates authorized modifications and completes adjustments and alignments to assure compliance with prescribed specifications for balance, fits, torque, pressure and/or stretch. Checks parts and items to be used prior to assembly to determine proper identify and assure serviceability. Reviews and researches historical record on finite life items and scraps those with high time. Prepares request for technical engineering call (TEC) for engineering deviation when appropriate. Certifies completion of work requirements on work documents, records any required measurement data, and completes required entries on historical documents. Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning items on the assembly line or flight line. Disassembles items designated for minor repair. Determines repair needed. Performs minor rework on parts or replaces parts required to restore item to serviceability. If extensive damage is discovered after disassembly takes appropriate action to assure proper authorization before additional work is accomplished.

SCREEN OUT ELEMENT
Ability to perform the work of an Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer without more than normal supervision. Perform a full range of work to disassemble, evaluate and examine, assemble and test rotor control, landing gear and related components at the journeyman level. Use precision measuring devises. Visually examined parts and components to determine serviceability. Resume must reflect current or past experience performing these tasks:

 •Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
•Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)  
•Use of Measuring Instruments
•Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (Includes blueprint reading)
•Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment  
•Trouble shooting

 PHYSICAL EFFORT
Requires standing, bending, walking, stooping, or sitting for long periods of time. Requires frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Hoists and/or equipment and other employees are available for handling heavier or awkward items.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Normally works inside on concrete floors in well-lighted, ventilated air-conditioned shop area. May work outside on flight line or in hangar areas when on trouble calls. Exposed to varying degrees of temperature and noise around shop or test cel lequipment. Exposed to dirt, dust, grease, oils and cleaning solvents and subject tocuts, abrasions, strains, and other injury from handling tools and parts and usingequipment. Required to wear and use appropriate safety equipment. Workingconditions are considered in the evaluation of the job.


Other Requirements:

Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 5 percent.
