Do you want excitement and challenge in your job? Become a Park Ranger (Protection) protecting the National Park Service resources. As a Park Ranger in this position, protecting the resources will be your main focus. You will patrol back country areas, protect park resources and visitors,apprehend violators, enforce park rules and regulations, provide emergency , manage wildlife/human interactions on the roadways or in campgrounds,and encourage visitors to develop a sense of stewardship for park resources. You will also provide information to visitors about park resources.
The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill many temporary positions at Lake Mead Recreation Area. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for extension if workload and funding allow. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years. Anticipated Entry on Duty: MARCH 2013
LIVING CONDITIONS: Located in Nevada and Arizona, Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers a range of recreational experiences. Its 1.5 million-acre size, nearly 1000 miles of shoreline, warm water, scenic settings and diverse natural and cultural resources draw millions of visitors to the park. Boulder City is located in Nevada within Clark County (population is approximately 15,000) and is 15 to 30 miles South of Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas (adjacent to the fastest growing county within Nevada). There are shopping facilities and excellent grade and high schools, numerous colleges, universities and hospitals are available in the area. Winter climate is mild and summer heat relieved by air-conditioning. Homes to buy/rent are usually available in Henderson, Las Vegas and Boulder City. The median price of houses in the greater Las Vegas area is $300,000. Nevada has no state income tax and there are unlimited recreational opportunities.
LIVING CONDITIONS FOR TEMPLE BAR, KINGMAN, AZ: Temple Bar located in northwestern Arizona, enjoys a slower pace than similar facilities around Lake Mead NRA. Its location on the eastern part of the lake puts it far enough away from major cities to avoid crowds that throng developments. It appeals to boaters, fishermen and campers seeking solitude and a relaxed recreational experience. Temple Bar is located just a little more than 80 miles from Las Vegas and 23 miles from Hoover Dam. Temple Bar is nearby the town of Dolan Springs. Dolan Springs has schools, library, community center with conference rooms and fully equipped kitchens, a bank, and two medical clinics with full-time physicians.
LIVING CONDITIONS FOR MEADVIEW, AZ: Meadview and the nearby town of Lake Mead City are isolated communities (population 2,000) located in northwest Arizona at the point where the Grand Canyon ends and Lake Mead begins. The Meadview area includes the areas of South Cove, Pearce Ferry, and Grand Wash. Meadview is 242 miles from Grand Canyon Village (4 hours by car), 60 miles from Kingman, Arizona, 2 hours from Las Vegas, Nevada and 1 ½ hours to the Boulder City, NV headquarters. Meadview has limited services including a grocery and hardware store, a post office, hotels and restaurants, and RV park with full hookups, and a gas station. Kingman and Las Vegas are full service communities. There is an elementary/junior high school in Dolan Springs, Arizona, 30 miles away and a high school in Kingman, Arizona.
LIVING CONDITIONS FOR KATHERINE LANDING, BULLHEAD CITY, AZ: Bullhead City is a growing community of 50,000+. It has the full range of amenities such as supercenter grocery stores, hospital, and schools.
LIVING CONDITIONS FOR COTTONWOOD COVE, SEARCHLIGHT, NV: Cottonwood Cove, Searchlight, Nevada is situated in the Colorado River Basin in Clark County, Nevada and located on U.S. 95 and State Route 164, midway between Las Vegas and Laughlin. Elevation is 3,540 feet. Cottonwood Cove is one of the three major developed areas on Lake Mohave. Cottonwood Cove is located on the Nevada shore of the lake, approximately 22 miles north of Davis Dam. Its development accommodates a wide variety of recreational activities and provides a public launch facility and commercial marina services as well as other public use and support activities.

Echo Bay is located in Nevada within Clark County and is 65 miles Northeast of Las Vegas, 50 miles to Henderson and 58 miles to Boulder City Nevada all to the South West. Winter climate is mild and summer heat relieved by air-conditioning. Overton Nevada is in the Moapa Valley, 25 miles North of Echo Bay. Within the Moapa Valley, there are shopping facilities and grade and high schools available. Las Vegas and Henderson have numerous colleges, universities and hospitals. Winter climate is mild and summer heat relieved by air-conditioning. Nevada has no state income tax and there are unlimited recreational opportunities.
