This position is located in the state Human Resources Office (HRO), Columbus, OH.

  • Exercise technical responsibility for the management of automated human resource information systems;
  • Direct, monitor, and control operations and maintenance of the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS);
  • Prepare reports, determination of findings, and provide solutions to improve the daily work operation of the Human Resource (HR) section;
  • Provide technical advice to HRO staff and service organizational officials to ensure timely implementation of new subsystems and enhancement of existing systems;
  • Serve as the primary representative for training issues related to information systems;
  • Perform database quality assurance to include analyzing quality control queries, rejects, and daily reports.

In order to qualify for Human Resources Specialist (Information Systems), GS-201-11, you must meet one of the following:

A. Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service, developing and implementing HR information systems and applications; analyzing and interpreting system requirements and changes impacting HR processes and procedures; conducting and evaluating training of personnel on HR systems and applications; responding to customer inquiries regarding system issues; etc.




B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.  One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study.  If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will be considered as satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement.


C. Have a combination of experience and education of the types described in A and B above which when combined equals to 100% of the total specialized experience for this position.  Only education in excess of that required for a master's or equivalent degree may be used when combining education and experience to meet the total qualification requirements.

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
