NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

AREA II:  All Members of the NJNG

AREA III:  All personnel eligible for membership in the NJARNG

 

If a New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJARNG, and may be required to attend U.S. Army Basic Training.  Applicant may contact an Army National Guard Recruiter.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position:  A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.

 

DUTIES:  Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft.  Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS_A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft.  Clears Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others.  Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work work to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported personnel.  Prepares and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  APPLICANT MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF A CURRENT VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Must have 18 months of  experience or training, installing, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. 

SKILL in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

ABILITY to coordinate the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.

ABILITY to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel.

ABILITY to disassemble and reassemble crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
