This position is located in the Information Technology Department (ITD), Marine Corps Institute (MCI), Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C. (MBW) (duty station is on the Washington Navy Yard).

·         Serve as the Director, Data & Web Services for the Marine Corps Institute (MCI) Information Technology Department (ITD).

·         Assist and advise the MCI Chief Information Officer in matters pertaining to the design, development and maintenance of the MCI Automated Information System (MCIAIS), Internet Applications, and Intranet Applications.

·         Lead, direct, coordinate, manage, execute, and integrate the portion of MCI ITD that encompasses the disciplines of visual information.

·         Plan, direct, coordinate, facilitate, and supervise the activities of several employees and/or provide technical oversight of contract employees engaged in various functions of the division.

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience designing, testing, and maintaining databases, web technologies, and multi-tiered systems.
  • Experience setting design standards for databases and providing planning and execution guidance to external users of the data.   
  • Experience modifying existing systems and relating major considerations or aspects of the work to the overall project.
  • Experience formulating programming specifications for new systems and major changes to existing systems.
  • Experience advising on alternative approaches in application system development or problem solving.
