The incumbent serves as a staff member and technical advisor to the Park Chief of Maintenance.  The incumbent has responsibility in the area of maintenance for providing technical and professional support and for the formulation and execution of long-range strategies for facility operation, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and development.  The incumbent has responsibility to prepare service and construction contract documents and serve as COTR.

Specialized Experience:  Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes performing duties such as participating in the determination of the condition of park assets, including annual and comprehensive assessments, lifecycle assessments, and daily work findings, using established guidelines; preparing statements of work for park projects; observing contractor progress and quality of work to ensure contract specifications are met; using database management programs in order to maintain data and synthesize information into graphic and other report formats; preparing and presenting reports to management from software programs for park operational, fiscal, and planning purposes; and working with park staff in developing park facility projects, conducting oversight activities of contractors performing construction or maintenance operations including developing and reviewing project plans and specifications, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements, and inspecting operations for conformance with project plans; or supervising maintenance or construction work including developing project proposals and managing budgets, directing actual work operations of employees engaged in construction or maintenance activities.




Education:  Applicants must possess a masters or equivalent degree or I have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree or a L.L.B. or JD. that has a major study in a directly related field such as business management, computer technology or other related fields. Two years of graduate education is considered to be 36 semester hours. PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify, you must submit a copy of your college transcripts.




Combination of Education and Experience:  Applicants must possess a combination of specialized experience as described in A above and education as described in B above which total at least one year.


Time-In-Grade: Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.  This requires applicants who have held a GS position at any time within the past 52 weeks to have served at least 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this occupation.

Physical demands: Work is mostly sedentary in an office setting with occassional physical activity.  There is some walking, bending, climbing, and crawling associated with on site inspections. 


Work environment: The work is performed in an office setting although there are regular visits to field locations to perform on-site investigations and inspections.  Field work is conducted year round with area temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 degrees.
