The Office of the Secretary (OST) oversees the formulation of National transportation policy and promotes intermodal transportation. Other responsibilities range from negotiation and implementation of international transportation agreements, assuring the fitness of US airlines, enforcing airline consumer protection regulations, issuance of regulations to prevent alcohol and illegal drug misuse in transportation systems and preparing transportation legislation.

This position serves in the Photographic Section of the Office of Real and Personal Property and Asset management. As a photographer for the Secretary of Transportation and for the Administrators of the ten modal administrations the you will be responsible for capturing on film all events of major historical significance to the Department. In this capacity, you have a vital and important responsibility to obtain the greatest coverage for national and regional distribution of information featuring the Secretary of Transportation and programs or the Department.
OST is looking for a motivated, self-reliant, skilled candidate willing to lead, direct and coordinate change within DOT that will balance transportation security requirements with the safety, mobility and economic needs of the nation.
This position is located in the new DOT building, which sits directly across from the street from the metro and blocks away from the new National’s Baseball Stadium. OST has flexible work schedules (to include Telework).

||To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the following:
To qualify for the GS-12, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the work performed at the next lower grade level (GS-11) for this occupation. The specialized experience must include:
- Experience in "custom" photography, such as special developing and previewing techniques, and use of appropriate cameras to meet individualized requirement, i.e., still and motion, ultra high speed, stop still, etc.
- Experience in exploiting the potentials of available equipment and conducting tests on photo materials.
- Experience in setting up special equipment to create special affects.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
