The major duties of this position include, but not limited to the following:

·         Participate actively in the management of the office by performing and coordinating routine administrative, clerical, and procedural work. 

·         Receives calls, greets visitors, and directs to supervisor or staff those contacts needing their attention or action.  Takes care of routine matters, and on the basis of knowledge of programs or operations, refers other inquiries to appropriate personnel. Incumbent personally responds to routine and non-technical requests for information.

·         Maintains supervisor’s calendars and schedules appointments based upon knowledge of supervisor’s interest and commitments.  Arranges for meeting rooms and teleconferences for training or other assemblies.

·         Prepares and reviews a variety of outgoing correspondences for proper format, conformance with procedural instructions, grammar, and typographical accuracy.

·         Performs administrative support duties for staff such as preparing travel authorizations, making airline and hotel reservations, preparing travel reimbursements, assisting with the development and tracking of office budget, preparing training requests, initiating personnel actions, and monitoring maintenance of office equipment and files.

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level.

Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.  Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to coordinating meetings and conferences including setting up videoconferences; composing and editing a variety of office documents; using standard office software (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc.); maintaining office files for records, maintenance reports, documents, letters and memoranda.

Conditions of Employment:

This position will be filled as full-time.

Relocation Expenses:

Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses for this position will not be paid by the Department of the Interior.
