JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position: Prepare both State and Federal tax returns and to provide clerical support for a variety of functions of the Staff Judge Advocate at Ft. Leavenworth, KS Tax Assistant Program.

  • Moving expenses are not authorized, based on a determination that a move is not in the Govenment's interest.
  • Incentives are not offered.

 

Work schedule is Intermittent and will vary at the discretion of position supervisor in order to meet customer demand. Total hours will not normally exceed 20 hours per week. Work schedule may include weekend and evening hours.

Income Tax Preparation Clerk at the Staff Judge Advocate Tax Assistant Program preparing both State and Federal tax returns.

  • Receives tax information to be entered from rough drafts and prepares forms and schedules in final form using the tax software program.
  • Files copies of completed tax returns.
  • Answer inquires on the telephone or in person regarding the Fort Leavenworth Tax assistance Center.
  • Schedules appointments for Tax Assistance Center clients.

General experience: To qualify, applicants must possess  six months of general experience in progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Income Tax Preparation Clerk.

             


EDUCATION OPTIONS: May be substituted for the six months General experience.

One year of education above high school (15 semester hours or the equivalent) (Transcripts are required at application).

                                                                      OR

Some general experience, but less than six months; and more than a high school education but less than one year above the high school level. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 15. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify) (Transcripts are required at application).

Conditions of Employment:

1. This temporary position has an intermittent work schedule with a not to exceed date of 26-Apr-2013.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
