JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:  This vacancy is with Directorate of Aircraft Production. This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army’s Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance and is the world’s largest helicopters overhaul and repair facility. CCAD serves as the depot training base for active duty Army, National Guard, Reserve and foreign military personnel. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting.

You will conduct technical review of a wide range of complex information and revisions to aircraft. Identify aircraft status discrepancies to include requirements for weight and balance, special inspection, and replacement of unacceptable components. Initiate action to obtain accurate history for flight safety parts from the appropriate data banks. Consolidate applicable aircraft bulletins with change configuration sheets to extract information and data from both sources. Conduct a technical review of past work documents to determine extent of specific directive compliance. Independently interpret and apply complex technical written regulations, requirements, directives and policies as they relate to aircraft rework. Screen out and interpret message data and assure implementation and compliance with requirements for Safety of Flight (SOF). Maintain statistical data pertaining to aircraft repair. Screen documents ensuring that all information is compatible with latest technical publications. Resolve discrepancies in work documents variances occur. Utilize a complex library of current technical directives pertaining to the aircraft.

Specialized experience: To Qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level GS-05.  Specialized experience is defined as: (1) experience tracking data in order to extract information from a variety of system sources; (2) experience interpreting and applying technical written regulations, procedures, directives, and/or policies; and (3) experience in communicating both orally and in writing.
OR
A half of an academic year of graduate education or 9 semester hours or 13 1/2 quarter hours graduate education directly related to the occupational series, such as, a business degree, production management degree, or industrial management degree, etc.

OR
Specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and some graduate education, but less than above. Computed the percentage of the requirements for experience and education, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.

Time in Grade Restriction: Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade, GS-05 (or equivalent).
