 THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO INTERNAL NASIC ONLY - DCIPS EMPLOYEES LOCATED AT WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, OH. 

 

This is a GG-08 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).  The GG-08 duties for the "Technician/Administrative Support" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-08 level.  The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

Duties:

 

  • The primary purpose of this position is to manage all administrative aspects of the Vice Commander’s (CV), Chief Scientist’s (CA), and Vice Director’s (DV) offices and refer to their staff, as appropriate. Focal point for all visitors/telephone calls for the CV, CA, and DV. Serves as a buffer and acts as liaison between CV, CA, DV, Group Commander’s and Staff personnel by providing accurate, timely advice on procedures, reports, requirements, and other matters necessary to implement the policies, directives and instructions. Assists senior staff and ISR Protocol for Center sponsored events and activities.

  • Independently makes timely and complete travel arrangements for CV, CA, DV, and staff. Must be familiar with the critical issues in order to make changes to TDY schedule during the year. Receives and reviews incoming correspondence to identify the appropriate action required, priority and/or suspense date.

  • Reviews correspondence to ensure correct spelling, accurate typing and appropriate formats in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Accurately selects, compiles and attaches all appropriate supplemental documentation necessary for superior’s response to correspondence. Assumes responsibility for ensuring requests for action or information are made known to responsible Group Commander and/or Staff personnel during superior’s absence.

  • Services as the single point to the Vice Commander for planning protocol activities involving distinguished visitors and conferences. Operates a variety of types of software to produce final products to include office automation software to perform basic functions such as word processing, electronic mail and/or update of data in electronic files.

  • Performs as backup to the Commander’s secretary when the Commander’s secretary is on leave, out of the office, or involved in preparing information/assistance for the Commander. Performs all secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties in the absence of all other command section secretarial and military administrative personnel, protocol, and public affairs personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS.  This position is in the Excepted Service.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  At least one (1) or more year’s specialized experience which is equivalent to at least the GG-07 or qualifying pay band or other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by a knowledge of the substantive programs, goals, priorities, and commitments of NASIC to assemble information (for reports or responses to inquiries), to compose correspondence that does not require technical knowledge. Knowledge of reporting general clerical administrative procedures to advise and instruct subordinate offices. Ensuring that all clerical and administrative correspondence is accurate and complete according to current instructions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 

 

  1. Knowledge of USAF, ISR and NASIC organizational structure, mission functions, and policies.

  2. Knowledge of the substantive programs, goals, priorities, and commitments of NASIC to assemble information (for reports or responses to inquiries), to compose correspondence that does not require technical knowledge.

  3. Knowledge of reporting general clerical administrative procedures to advise and instruct subordinate offices. Ensuring that all clerical and administrative correspondence is accurate and complete according to current instructions.

  4. Knowledge necessary to utilize word processing equipment including the manipulation of textual material through the use of keyboard devices capable of controlled storage, retrieval, automated typing text transfer or electronic mail devices.

  5. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and required formats to correct errors.

  6. Ability to control classified and sensitive material is required.

 

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. 


ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

  1. This position is covered by the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS), and as such will subject the incumbent to those examinations and/or tests that are necessary to obtain and retain a security clearance and any special accesses required by the position in accordance with AFI 36-1101.

  2. This position is a testing designated position and as such requires periodic urinalysis testing.

  3. Failure to comply with any of the special requirements, when required, will subject the incumbent of this position to reassignment or disciplinary adverse actions, including demotion or removal.

  4. Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
  5. Work is sedentary in nature and requires minimal physical demands, including walking to and from various offices and buildings.

  6. May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty.
