You will ultimately: *Prepare, review and analyze various work proposals, work requests, work orders, long and short range plans and schedules to determine the most cost-effective method of accomplishing work. *Propose maintenance or project work in response to observed needs based on specialized knowledge and experience with plant equipment. *Analyze commercial bids for construction or alteration work, makes recommendations for award and for negotiation of prices or for changes in original specifications. *Research and organizes data into maintenance procedure manuals for all project generators, pump units, and pump generators. *Provide cost estimates for refurbishing major equipment for other hydro power projects.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Category rating and selection procedures will be used to evaluate applications from this announcement. If you meet the basic qualification requirements, your on-line responses to the vacancy assessment questionnaire will be used to determine the quality and extent of your experience, education, training, etc., for placement in one of the following categories: 1) Best Qualified, 2) Well Qualified, and 3) Qualified. Qualified candidates will be assigned a numerical score on a scale of 70-100 and veterans with preference will be placed at the top of their respective category. The assessment questionnaire will take you approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Applicants will be further evaluated on the following "Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)" positions through your resume and responses to the online questions.

1. Ability to do the work of a planner/estimator without more than normal supervision.

2. Knowledge of materials, tools, work processes and personnel required to perform maintenance, modifications, and additions to equipment found in and associated with a hydroelectric facility.

3. Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions, specifications, drawings/blueprints, and manufacturers' information on equipment.

4. Ability to develop clear, accurate written procedures for work being planned/estimated.

5. Ability to work well with others and receive constructive criticism from customers.

6. Ability to use a personal computer and various types of software and systems, such as word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, maintenance management, timekeeping, procurement, Internet, scheduling, etc.

Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.
