This position is located within the Sensory Service at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. The duties and responsibilities of a Speech-Language Pathologist are carried out throughout the medical center, including all clinical areas and other patient care areas involved with the Sensory Service. The Speech-Language Pathologist at this level conducts diagnostic assessments and evaluation, and plans, organizes, and conducts the rehabilitation program, training, research, and consultation.

·         A Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a directly-related field from a college or university accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is required.

·         Candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade.

·         Full, current, and unrestricted licensure/registration is preferred and will be required to reach full performance level (GS-12).

·         5 or more years of experience are preferred, but not required.


The candidate’s salary and grade will be determined by the Professional Standards Board (PSB).  The PSB is a peer review process.  The PSB will review the candidate’s individual qualifications, education, professional training/internship(s) and professional experience to determine the most appropriate salary and grade based on your individual accomplishments.
