This position is for a SAN/VMware Administrator. The main responsibility for this position is to design, upgrade, manage, and monitor Peacecorps Net App storage and VMware virtual infrastructures. The NetApp skills required for this position include: -CIFS shares for Peacecorps data -Fiber Channel luns for Windows, VmWare, and Linux. -NFS over 10 gig Ethernet -Snap Mirror replication -System upgrades The VMWare skills required for this position include: - Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, support and maintenance of VMware Systems - Design, deploy and maintain VMWare virtual infrastructure solutions to include View and Vsphere - Senior level server support and administration for medium scale virtual server and network environment. - P2V and image creation (for servers and View remote access) - Support Microsoft and Linux.
Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software to ensure the availability and functionality of the systems. Recovers data in the event of hardware or software failure.

Researches and/or analyzes information technology (IT) problems, issues, and project or program requirements relative to integrating products and services with agency mission area requirements.

Manages the lifecycle of an information technology project from concept development through implementation. Identifies customer requirements, develops technical approaches, and coordinates project resources related to project costs and schedules.

Plans, designs, and develops test methods, procedures, techniques, and requirements for computer systems. Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and improves hardware, software, systems, and/or equipment testing methods, concepts, techniques, and operations. Participates in the test and evaluation of contractors' equipment, components, systems, or products. Develops new technologies, such as computer simulations, for innovative testing of design concepts, applications, and systems. Develops and implements test technologies to address the design, development, verification, and operation needs of software, systems or hardware.

Fulfilled internal and external information technology (IT) client and customer needs, providing information, assistance, and/or training, resolving problems; explaining system and product functionality; and satisfying expectations.

Identified problems and causation factors and generated solutions and/or offered recommendations for a variety of confirmed information technology (IT) problems.

MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifying experience for FP-03 requires IT-related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail; Customer Service; Oral Communication; and Problem Solving; AND one (1) year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-04 or GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience must be IT-related and may be paid or unpaid experience.

Example of specialized experience for positions at the FP-03 level, typically gained in the IT field or through performance of work where the primary concern is IT, includes experience analyzing a number of alternative approaches when advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design. The experience demonstrates accomplishment of IT project assignments requiring knowledge of IT requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled.

This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 30 months, but may be extended up to 5 years. Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination
