This position is located within the Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division, Office of the Chief Information Officer, IT Security Staff. 

Filling this position is subject to funding availability.

As an Information Technology Specialist (Information Security) at the GS-14 level, some of your duties may include the following:

 

  • Providing authoritative guidance related to DOJ IT security program;
  • Developing strategies to respond to future IT security challenges;
  • Recommending strategies or methods to evaluate current security vulnerabilities or risks to IT systems;
  • Planning long-range objectives and milestones for IT projects;
  • Developing IT policies, procedures or guidelines for IT security programs and;
  • Performing feasibility studies to evaluate equipment requirements for IT projects.

In order to qualify for this position, you must fulfill the following Basic Requirement:

IT related experience that demonstrates possession of each of the four competencies: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Your experience includes: conducting analyses and recommending resolution of issues affecting complex assignments; delivering IT services and products based upon evaluation of client needs and requirements; providing advice and guidance on a wide range of IT issues; and testing and optimizing the functionality of systems, networks, and data.

 

In addition, you must possess the following experience to fulfill the Minimum Qualifications Requirement:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service performing the following duties: 1) developing strategies or methods to identify and decrease security risks or vulnerabilities to IT systems for a department; 2) implementing IT infrastructure and services in compliance with identified business needs and requirements; 3) evaluating the current security of IT systems and infrastructure to recommend revised or new policies, procedures and guidance; 4) serving as technical authority for management on the design, development and security measures for IT systems and infrastructure and; 5) preparing written guidance on department-wide IT systems security measures, policies and procedures.

Conditions of Employment:
