Serve as a Dentist (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon) for the PIMC Dental Department:

  • Provide diagnostic services through the use of history, radiographs, clinical examination, diagnostic models and other appropriate tests.
  • Provide routine oral surgery services and regularly encounters greater than usual dental health problems that require complex treatment.
  • Provide emergency services including the treatment of trauma, pain and infection.
  • Provide inpatient oral surgery services in the operating room.
  • Implement and evaluate an area wide oral surgery program.

    In order to be considered, applicants must meet both of the requirements listed below:

    1) BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet all of the following education and licensure requirements:

    A. Degree - Degree in dental surgery (DDS) or dental medicine (DMD) from a school approved by the Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association (ADA); or other dental school provided the education and knowledge acquired was substantially equivalent to that of graduates from an ADA-approved school.

    B. Licensure - Applicants must be currently licensed to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.

    2) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement listed above, applicants for positions at the GS-14 level must have the amount of experience and training shown below:

    • 1 year post-licensure professional dentistry experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level performing surgery and related procedures on the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions to treat and diagnose diseases; perform surgery to improve function or apperance.  Certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by a national certifying board is a good indication that the quality of experience is acceptable.
