The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) currently has an opening for a Supervisory Curriculum Administrator to work in the DoDEA Office of the Associate Director for Education located in Alexandria, VA. DoDEA is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two distinct educational systems, the Defense Dependents' Education System, known as the Department of Defense Dependents' Schools (DoDDS), which is DoDEA's overseas school system, and the DoD Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS), which is DoDEA's domestic school system.  DoDEA employs more than 13,500 individuals responsible for the education of more than 88,000 students in schools located in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam and Puerto Rico; DoDEA's mission is to provide a quality education from pre- kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments.

Major Duties:

 

- Demonstrates ability to use data to influence or guide curricular decisions.

- Experience in facilitating or using human-relations to move an organization forward.

- Experience in problem-solving, facilitating and/or decision making with no correlation to a K-12 setting.

-  Experience with a staff, through supervisory, curricular experts (above school level) who administers the direction of studies for a K-12 setting.

- Experience included budgeting and evaluation of staff.

- Experience with communication at all levels including those who are above and below line of supervision, along with audiences not directly connected (i.e. government officials, other school system staff, vendors, and community).

In accordance with the Qualifications Standards for General Schedule (GS) Positions under the Coverage for General Education and Training Positions, the following is being provided to you. This position requires 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level. Examples of specialized experience are: K-12 above school level leadership and management experience; and ability to plan, manage and report all levels of management on educational programs for a K-12 district and/or state.

 

Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

 

1. Ability to utilize a wide range of information and data sources to research, extract and organize information to provide expert analysis and to recommend solutions for complex and important educational issues.

2. Skill in human relations to facilitate problem-solving and decision making processes.

3. Demonstrated ability to direct the work of a subordinate staff and to perform a full range of supervisory duties.

4. Ability to communicate to upper level management and senior officials.

 


Applicants must meet the BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS as follows:

Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.

A combination of education and experience-- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study described above.
