The Sheridan VA Medical Center is recruiting for the position of Pharmacy Chief for the Pharmacy Service, located in Sheridan, WY.  The closing date of this announcement will be extended until a permanent selection is made.  Application will be referred to the Selection Official on a weekly basis, beginning 7/15/13. 

The Sheridan VA Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacist to serve as the Chief, Pharmacy Service with responsibility for the planning, direction, management, and coordination of multifaceted, comprehensive pharmaceutical services.  The Chief, Pharmacy Service is responsible for all administrative and professional pharmacy services for the Medical Center and associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics and Primary Care Telehealth Outpatient Clinics. 

The Chief, Pharmacy Service establishes and implements long and short term plans, policies, and procedures, assuring that clinical and administrative programs are integrated to provide high quality patient care with optimum utilization of resources; develops, evaluates, adjusts and prioritizes programs, budget allocations, and administrative processes in order to accomplish the mission; and also serves as the Medical Center’s liaison to the VISN 19 Pharmacy Benefits Manager.  The duties of the position are develops and maintains clinical pharmacy programs designed to maximize pharmacotherapeutic  benefits from patient outcome and cost perspectives including, but not limited to, inpatient programs on pharmacokinetics, nutrition, oncology, surgery, medicine, geriatrics, rehab medicine, acute psychiatric, pain control and research; outpatient programs in geriatrics, anticoagulation, prescription refill, polymedicine, and patient education.  Develops continuing education programs for staff to provide knowledge and skills necessary to maintain and improve their performance;  Establishes and promotes an atmosphere of unity through cooperation and integration of clinical and administrative roles, a high level of productivity, patient and staff satisfaction, and strong communication channels between various services.  The Chief is also responsible for the administration of Pharmacy Service activities as they relate to the Investigational Drug Program.  Work Schedule: M-F 7:30-4:00
