Reclamation is seeking a professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on his/her expertise as an IT Specialist. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.

Would you enjoy ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Government facilities? Incumbent serves as Local Area/Wide Area Network administrator for the Great Plains Regional Office Support Services Group within the Information Technology Services Organization.

- Analyzing and defining network requirements.
- Defining and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure.
- Configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers, switches, and WAN accelerators.
- Monitoring network capacity and performance.
- Diagnosing and resolving network problems.
- Installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading network operating systems software.
- Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

GS-12: 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

DEFINITION OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:

GS-12:  Experience in planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Category rating and selection procedures will be used for evaluating this position. If you meet the basic qualification requirements, your on-line responses to the vacancy assessment questionnaire will be used to determine the quality and extent of your experience, education, training, etc., for placement in one of the following categories:  1) Highly Qualified, 2) Qualified. Qualified candidates will be assigned a numerical score on a scale of 70-100 and Veterans with preference will be placed at the top of their respective category. The assessment questionnaire will take you approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Applicants will be further evaluated on the following "Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)" through your resume and responses to the online questions.

1.  The ability to install, configure, optimize, manage, upgrade, test, analyze and monitor network equipment, and resolve issues of network operating systems technology.

2.  The ability to provide customer support services and to consult with users to diagnose and resolve network problems and specific requirements from individuals with varying levels of expertise.

3.  Communication skills (written and verbal) to deliver quality work products.
